Pretty Proud Of Myself!

11 1/2 years ago I looked like this...

Almost 7 years ago I looked like this...

Now, 2 kids later and 60 pounds lighter, I look like this...

I've been contemplating trying my wedding dress on after almost 12 years to see if it would fit again, but I was a nervous wreck actually doing it yesterday. Please pardon the messy hair; I had been in the pool all morning and during Anderson's nap I finally worked up my courage to pull my dress out of my parents closet yesterday. I just had to know if it fit again. And it did! Perfectly! It was even a bit loose in the sides of the dress. I've worked my fanny off, literally, to fit back into my wedding dress and I'm so happy that I'm back to my wedding weight. I only gained 20 pounds when I was pregnant with Jackson, but I had apparently gotten very comfortable with married life prior to getting pregnant with J, and I pretty much let myself go. I have pictures of myself during this time frame that I wish I could burn. As of a few weeks ago, I've lost 60 pounds from my highest weight at 9 months pregnant with Jackson. It's taken lots of kids meals instead of combo meals, turkey meat instead of ground beef, water instead of coke, exercise and good old fashioned deprivation to reach this goal, and I'm stoked that I got it done. I would still like to lose another 20 pounds, to be back to my high school weight, but I'm not going to stress about that. I'm just happy with what I've done so far!

Next goal: Actually weighing what my drivers license says I weigh!

Finished With First Grade!

Our big boy is finished with first grade! He's had such an amazing year, and we've been blessed with an amazing teacher that Jackson adores. Mrs. Hicks was the perfect teacher for Jackson for first grade, and we are going to miss her so much next year. I even cried when writing out her thank you card because she meant so much to us! She has a heart of gold, and a passion for teaching these little kids. We couldn't have been  happier with her!

Jackson ended the year with making all A's and only 1 B the entire year! Whoo-hooo! He went from reading on a 0.4 AR level to a 2.5, and his DIBELS scores were through the roof! He is well prepared for second grade, and we are so proud of out boy!

Enjoy the pictures from Awards Day!

"Roll Tide" from Jackson. I'm gonna get his fanny! :)

Mrs. Hicks did a slide show of pictures from the year. I cried.

Jackson got the candy bar, "SKOR" award for being a star athlete and having a winning attitude!

At the beginning of the year I intereviewed Jackson about first grade. I asked him the questions again now that the year is over. His "first of the year" questions are in black, and his "end of the year" questions are in red.

How many girlfriends? (Insert blank stare.) ZERO.

 End of First Grade

Jackson has done amazing in first grade, and we are so proud of him. We really couldn't have asked for a better teacher, school, or school year. First grade has been awesome, and we will always love his teacher for giving him such a great experience!

Party Planning Without Pinterest

I normally go nuts when it's time for my kid's birthday parties, and get all into the planning. All of their birthday parties have themes, and I usually go all out in keeping with that theme. For example:
  1. Jackson's first birthday: Airplane, Police Car and Firetruck
  2. Jackson's second birthday: Construction
  3. Jackson's third birthday: Monkeys
  4. Jackson's fourth birthday: Pirates
  5. Jackson's fifth birthday: Phineas and Ferb
  6. Jackson's sixth birthday: Olympics (which apparently I never blogged about it, but it was good!)
  7. Anderson's first birthday: Golf themed (Hole-in-one Birdie Partee)
And this year I've settled on a frog theme for Anderson's second birthday, but I'm doing an about face on the whole party planning front. Birthday party planning has gotten out of hand, and it seems like the parties keep having to get bigger and bigger. I've reached the point where less is more, and I'm cutting the strings on my former pinterest inspired parties. This year, our "frog theme" is extending to invitations, cake and Anderson's outfit. We are having the party at the YMCA where they set up, serve and clean up the party, and all we have to do is show up, party, play, pay and go home! It's going to be a old-school party, and all we are probably serving is cake, ice cream and drinks. I'm probably going to ask that the paper products be green, but I'm cutting myself some slack this year on going all out. Anderson will never know the difference and spending a fortune on a party he won't remember just isn't worth it.

In these days of pinterest inspired shindigs, I'm considering myself revolutionary. This party will be life changing....at least for me and my stress level!

The Last Friday Of First Grade!

Today is the last Friday of first grade for this cutie pie of mine! I can't believe that Jackson is about to be a second grader, but this kiddo has rocked first grade! We've been blessed with the sweetest teacher, Mrs. Hicks, and she has helped Jackson grow so much this year. He started off the year reading on a 0.4 Accelerated Reader, and has progressed to reading on a 2.5 reading level, and he's made A/B Honor Roll all year long. I'm so proud of him! Jackson has his awards day on Tuesday morning, and then school will be finished at noon on Wednesday.

He's looking forward to lazy summer days and no homework, and I'm just wishing that time would slow down before I'm packing him up to move off to college! With as great a job as he has done in first grade, I can't wait to see what second grade will bring for him!

Sshhhhh.....

Don't tell Jackson, but we have a surprise trip to visit the house of the mouse again in September, but this trip will be with both boys and Nana and Tata are coming with us! We are going to attempt to pull off a, "check you out of school, we're going to Disney World today" kind of surprise, but I don't know if I can keep the secret that long. We will certainly try though! I've got lots to do before this trip planning wise, so I better hop to it!

Remember....don't tell Jackson!!!

Jackson Wade, Future St. Louis Cardinal!

Jackson had a game rain out last Saturday and it was rescheduled for this past Friday night. Y'all, Jackson had such a great game. He played third base, and came so close to catching a line drive, but it was just out of his reach. He was on target for the whole game, and when it came to hitting Jackson did the best he's done all year. He bats first in the team lineup, and his first time up to bat he made a homerun! It was awesome watching my little man circle the bases, and I was so stinking proud of him! I was whooping and hollering like crazy! His second time up to bat he made a double, and ended up scoring another run, and his third time up to bat he made a single, and then the player behind him struck out and the game was over. Jackson's team may have lost, but he played his heart out, and I'm so very proud of him!

6.5 years ago I was dreading organized sports. Now, I'm a bonafide baseball mom, and I couldn't love it more!
