White Water and More!!!

I had told you about 2 weeks ago that I won tickets to go to White Water in Atlanta, and this was the big weekend. Amy and Adam were so kind to watch Jackson (Huge Thanks!!), and so at 6:00 in the morning, we headed to Auburn to drop little man off, and then Jeremy and I headed to GA for some water fun. We had a blast! I did witness some stuff that I felt blog worthy to share with ya'll, just in case you were curious. I know you are...

  • If you are such a hairy man (or woman for that matter) that you could be mistaken for a werewolf, Big Foot, or some random gorilla, please, please, please, wear a t-shirt when at a water park. It really didn't help you that your back was freshly shaven. It just made your chest look that much more like a shag carpet. Ew, gross!!

  • To the body builder man who was trying to impersonate the Incredible Hulk, lay off the 'roids. You look really gross, and the fact that you are on steroids has not escaped anyone. Nice try though, you ALMOST had us fooled.

  • To the mother's of the 12 year old girls who are dressed like they are 20: Please be aware that your daughter's fake tramp stamp tattoo that is placed so appropriately just above her butt does not make her look cute. It makes her look trashy. That, and her string bikini that she has to keep tying back on as she comes down the water slides isn't helping. Don't you realize that you are just inviting middle aged men to ogle your pre-adolescent daughter??? One more for the Ew! File!!
  • To the 200 + pound women that feel the need to wear bikinis: Don't. For the love of all things right and good in this world... Don't!!! I'm proud that you have the self confidence to be comfortable in your own skin, but I really don't want to look at it all day as I stand in line behind you. It's just not attractive. I'm sorry...
  • My Dad will love this one. If you feel that need to get a tattoo, please consider what design you are going to get and location of said design. Way back when I was in college I toyed with the idea of getting a tattoo. One trip to White Water cured me of that desire. That cute little tattoo around your belly button may look great when you are 20, but I can all but promise that it is not going to look so wonderful 2 kids, 40 pounds, and a belly full of stretch marks later. Just trust me on this one, and if you can't trust me, head to a local water park and see for yourself.
I guess that's all my waterpark tips for now. We really did have a great time, and are so appreciative of Amy and Adam for letting Jackson hang out with them for the day. Adam taught Jackson the word patella, and he told everyone at church where his patella was. Too cute!

Baby Borrowers

I stumbled onto a new show last night after church, and I just had to share with ya'll what a hoot it was. The show is The Baby Borrowers and it comes on NBC. It is basically 5 teen couples that feel that they are responsible enough to have children, so they are put to the test. I am ashamed to say that one of these couples goes to Auburn University. One of the other couples is a surfer/skateboarding couple. These teens think they would make "cool" parents because they "get" kids today. Yeah, that's what kids today need...more "cool" parents.

These teens are placed in homes with their significant other, and then each couple is given a baby between 6-11 months old to take care of 24/7 for 3 days. A legitimate nanny is in the house with them at all times to ensure the child's safety, although they can't assist the "parents" unless the child's welfare is in danger. The actual parents are observing via security camera from a house just a short distance away and can intervene at any time (and they do).

Let me just say how hilarious this was to watch. You basically have these teens who are trying to start a family because they feel they would be great parents. This show is going to turn out to be the best form of birth control they will ever use.

The actual parents drop off these 5 precious children who are dressed oh, so cute, into the arms of these teens who gaze adoringly at them and say how cute they are. Then reality hit: we have teething issues, diarrhea, vomit (which was hilarious to watch the teen mother start gagging), refusing to eat, crying, not sleeping, and that was just the first 24 hours. These new parents are beside themselves, and they still have 2 more days before the babies go home, then the toddlers arrive.

I have a toddler, so I feel fully qualified to say what I'm about to say: These teens aren't gonna know what hit them whent those toddlers arrive on the scene. I have two words for them: reverse psychology.

In the 2 parental interventions that I saw, both of the teen mothers ended up in tears. One mother intervened because her replacement basically wasn't making the child eat. The teen was basically a witch about it, and commented that she just wasn't going to deal with "this" (referring to parenthood) anymore. Real mature. The other mother interved because the teen dad kept referring to her daughter as an "It." He basically said, "Since IT is going to cry all night, just put IT in the other room and let it cry, and we can get some sleep." As if!!!! If that baby is crying, honey, neither one of you are going to be getting any sleep. Welcome to Parenthood!!!

This show should prove more than entertaining for the rest of the summer. I highly recommend...
Welcome to Parenthood Ya'll!!!!

Take Me out to the Ballgame!!

We went to Jeremy's company party on Saturday night at the Biscuits game and had a blast. The stadium is right off of the river and trains come by all during the game. It was Jackson's first time seeing a "choo-choo" up close, and it was hilarious. It got just about dead even with us when it blew it's first whistle.

I think Jackson wet his pants!

He hunkered down so far into Jeremy, and then he slowly began to peek at the train. After a few rail cars he was loving it. He kept wanting to call the Choo-Choo the next day. It was so cute! The stadium also has a park out in left field, so that is where we spent just about all of the game. No shock there huh?

Jackson giving "Big Mo" a hug.

The Choo-Choo coming by us!

In other total dork worthy news, I just got Golden tickets to go see Rick and Bubba do their live radio show. I'm so excited!!! We will be heading up there on September 15th, and I know that I'm gonna love it. I'm just dragging Jeremy along for the fun of it. He apparently isn't affected by celebrity like I am. He is going to have to keep me in line :)

Bye ya'll!!! Have a great Wednesday!

Works For Me Wednesday

For todays WFMW over at Shannon's, I thought that I would share my new can't live without makeup. If you can't find a good mascara, you really need to try Mabelline's Define-A-Lash Mascara. It is amazing. I have had it for a couple of months now, and I am in awe of how good my lashes look. It really does make each lash look long and individual, and it is really good about not clumping. The wand is really flexible, which was a tad strange at first, but now that I am used to it, I really like it.

I would take an upclose picture of my lashes, but I just seems a tad weird to do that, even for my blog. So, if you are in the market for a new mascara, I highly recommend this one. It definitely works for me!

A friend indeed..

The last two days on my way to work I have found myself behind the same guy driving a truck. He has two bumper stickers on the truck. The first one that I caught myself reading says, "My insanity doesn't drive me crazy. I enjoy every second."

The other one says, "U.S. Marines: Travel Agents to Allah"

I really think we could be friends....

Works For Me Wednesday

I just had to share about a new discovery of mine. I am a Dove soap addict. I just have to have it, and no other bar of soap does as well on my skin as Dove. That being said, I have tried just about all of the Dove bars of soap, and I have a new favorite.

It is the Dove Go Fresh line of soap. It smells amazing! It has a grapefruit and lemon grass scent that is wonderful for summer, and has exfoliating beads in the soap. My husband doesn't like the beads because he said they feel too rough on his skin, but hello....that is what exfoliating is all about!!! Men seriously don't understand the need for a good exfoliation. It seriously works for me, even if it doesn't work so well for my husband!

I'm Such a Dork!!!

I have been listening to the Rick and Bubba Show for almost 10 years now. I found them when I was in college, and although I wasn’t a faithful member of the Rick and Bubba Army until I lived in Birmingham, I have been hooked for years now. I'm slightly obsessed with them!

They were doing a book signing yesterday at Books A Million and I was determined that I was going to be there. I took a change of clothes to work, and as soon as my clock said 4:30, I was out the door and headed to the bookstore. I had a friend from work, Jamie, agree to go stand in line with me, cause she’s just nice like that. When we finally got in line, another one of my coworkers, Doug, just happened to be standing right in front of us. We had a great time just talking while we waited.

It was so worth the wait!

Not only did I get to meet Rick and Bubba (aka the 2 sexiest fat men alive), I got my book signed, my picture taken with them and Speedy, my picture made the Rick and Bubba website, and I even got 2 free passes to WhiteWater in Atlanta!! Not bad for a 2 hour wait!
Jamie and me in line!
"Don Juan" Demarco Williams
Bill "Bubba" Bussey

Me getting up to the front of the line!!!

Rick and Bubba, and Me!!!!

I love me some Rick and Bubba!!!

Thank you Mama!

video

Jackson has started saying thank you (with and without prompting). We caught him Sunday morning thanking everyone. He even thanks Macy when she walks by him. It's too funny, and oh so cute!

Jackson and his pink "dat"

We have tried to get rid of Jackson's pacifier (aka "dat) for over a year now, and have had little success. We have worked our way through about 5 dats now, and as one is lost instead of just trying to quit cold turkey we end up giving in to "I need dat" to the point that Jeremy is sent on a mad dash trip to Walmart for more dats.

On his last trip about 2 weeks ago he came home with the only 2 pack of Nuk pacifiers left in the store.

They came in pink and orange.

Now I am all for some level of gender equality, but I am just not too keen on the thought of my toddler son walking around with a pink dat in his mouth. Call me sexist, but I just don't think it looks right.

On Sunday morning Jackson was left to his own devices for about 5 minutes while Jeremy and I finished getting ready for church. When we were about 2 minutes from walking out the door to head to church I realized that dat was nowhere to be found. I can't begin to describe the level of stress as we began to frantically flip couch cushions and look under pillows for dat. I even got
down on Jackson's level and began pleading with him to show me where dat was. Our conversation sounded something like this:

Me: "Jackson, where's dat?"
Jackson: (shrugging shoulders up) "Where Dat?"
Me: "No sweetheart, that is what I need to know. Where did you put dat?"
Jackson: "I want dat."
Me: "Me too Jackson. Me too."
Jackson: (now insert sound of whining and pleading) "I want dat."
Me: "Jackson, in a minute we are going to have to go to church without dat. I need to know where you put your dat. Otherwise, you are either going to church without
dat, or with a pink dat. Please go find dat."
Jackson: "Where Dat?"
Me: "I give up. Jeremy, please go get the pink dat. We have to go."

Want to see how cute he looks? This was taken after church.
We eventually found the orange dat in his toy box and life has returned to normal, and by normal I mean that I still have an almost 2 year old in love with his pink paci. Life is good!

Tuesday Randomness

Here are some random pictures of our reunion from this past weekend. I hope you enjoy!

Jackson in the inflatable kid trap at the picnic on Saturday

He quickly learned to love this thing!

We had to get out when the big kids got in. I thought they were going to run him over. He didn't seem to mind though!

Laughing his little head off!

Leslie, Mike, T.R., Kasey, Me, and Jeremy at the reunion
(All Glynwood folks!)

Jennifer, Me, and Heather

This is how the bar looked the entire evening!

Leslie from church. She only has a few more weeks before Maddie arrives!

Lindsey and Jason Canada

Leigh Ann, Leslie, me, and Heather

Jackson before church

Me and Little Man

Jeremy is also really proud that Jackson can now identify Tiger Woods on sight. It is hilarious. After watching the U.S. Open all weekend, Jackson got really good at saying Tiger Woods' name, and we are working on what Tiger Woods' says (YESSSS with a fist pump in case you were curious). This is in comparision to what a Tiger says (GGGRRRR). Jeremy can't wait to take Jackson out golfing with him, and I would imagine that they both will really enjoy golf together. Jackson already knows the words golf, golfball, and club, and he can even throw his club when he gets mad :)

Happy Father's Day

I wanted to wish Jeremy, my Dad (Ta-ta), and my FIL, Buddy (Papa) a wonderful Father's day. You are amazing men, and we are so lucky that we have you in our lives. Thanks for being such a wonderful Christian example. We love you!!!

10 whole years!!!

Well, well, well. I had my ten year reunion this past weekend, and I really can’t believe that it’s been ten whole years already. The reunion was fun getting to catch up with people from high school that I haven’t seen in years.

It was also fun seeing what prom would have been like had liquor been sold.

The reunion started Friday night with a baseball game at our local AA stadium, which Jeremy and I left at the bottom of the 7th inning because it was a rather boring game. Seriously, 7 innings, and no one had scored. I’m ADD enough when it comes to baseball games, so I just couldn’t take much more of it. Luckily, the weather was breezy and not too hot, so it was a fun evening.

Saturday we met at the local park for a picnic with classmates and their families. Jackson had a blast even though it was so stinking hot outside. I swear kids are impervious to things like heat, meanwhile, I’m about to melt. He got to get into one of those big inflatable kid traps, and he loved every second of it! Saturday night was the last part of the reunion and it was held at our Robert Trent Jones Clubhouse. It was pouring when we got there, so it was a challenge to get inside without getting soaked, but I’m not gonna complain, because we really needed the rain. They had a DJ there, good food, and nice company. I was kinda surprised at how much people looked the same.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend, and I had a had a great time catching up with old friends. Make sure that you check out the Ennis family (Jennifer from high school) and the Canada family (Lindsey, also from high school). When I saw both of them it was like I had been keeping track of them forever simply because I follow their blogs. I felt the same way about a bunch of other classmates because of the worlds of Myspace and Facebook. Isn’t technology great! I can only imagine where we will all be in 10 more years….

It's Your Lucky Day! Free Advice Friday and a Meme all in one day!!

Free Advice Friday

The Rules of Flip Flops!

I love flip flops in the summer. I have about 15 pairs of Old Navy in just about every color you can think of. You can't have too many 2 for $5 shoes in my opinion. Here are my basic rules for flip flopping in the summer. They are pretty simple, but pay close attention.

1. Under no circumstance do you wear flip flops with socks. Never. Under. Any. Circumstance.

2. Keep your nails trimmed and polished. It doesn't take much effort. Really. This does pertain to guys too, minus the polish part.

3. This was brought to my attention as the pet peeve of one of my friends. Pay close attention. If your feet are a tad too big for your flip flops, and they tend to "sausage" over your shoes, you may not need to be wearing foot exposing shoes. Either that, or buy bigger shoes. I hate to hurt feelings out there in blog world, but it is just a basic fashion no-no.

4. Do not ever say anything about feet to the pregnant lady you see wearing flip flops anywhere in public, even if you deem it a not-appropriate place to wear flip flops. Chances are she is wearing them because nothing else will slide on anymore. She really doesn't need attention drawn to her swelling lower limbs. She is fully aware of them. Thanks!

5. That being said, if you get the chance to meet the President at the White House, don't wear flip flops during your photo op. It just doesn't look real classy.

With those basic rules, you should be well on your way to enjoying flip flops this summer. If you have any questions about the rules, please email me at auflag@yahoo.com and I would be happy to clarify.

Now on to today's Meme!
What is the worst meal you ever had?
I have to give the honor to one of my Dad's creations on this one. He read on the back of a package of rice about some Orange Juice Rice combination. Yes, you read that correctly. Orange juice and rice. It was a disaster, and we have yet to let him live it down.

Name one place you could vacation every year?
The beach and the mountains. I love them both.

5 things that drive you crazy?
1. Jackson has been really whiney for the last 2 days. It gets old fast. He knows his words...
2. People talking during the movies. Or making out during the movies. Believe it or not I didn't pay $10 to hear your conversation. I am so that person that will turn around and ask them to shut their trap. Nicely of course. Sometimes.
3. When a cashier says, "I'll take the next customer in isle 2!" and the nice person behind you jumps over there and gets in line first. RUDE!
4. When I am filling my car up at the gas station, and I pay at the pump, and then I have to walk inside to get my receipt because the person who works at the gas station is too lazy to walk outside and refill the tape register. Ugh. I have gotten a touch ugly about this one before.
5. The fact that gas station pumps now cut off at $50 when you are filling up. I know it is a credit card/debit card issue, but seriously folks, $50 doesn't even come close these days. Get with it!

Name 3 people from your past that make you stop and think, “Hey, I wonder what ever happened to…”
I'm gonna decline on this one. I try not to question the past too much for obvious reasons. Let's just move on.

Kids' TV show you might actually enjoy more than your kids do?
Hi-5 on TLC, and Ready, Set, Learn on TLC, My Little Ponies, & Care Bears.

5 Worst movies you’ve ever seen?
1. Old Yeller (no explanation needed)
2. It's a Wonderful Life
3. Groundhog Day (I saw it in the theater and I seriously thought I was going to come unglued)
4. My Best Friend's Wedding. The ending just ruined that movie for me.
5. Any Star Wars or Star Trek movie. Hate if you want, but they are just not for me.

Most under-rated TV show you watch regularly?
Jon and Kate + 8

Most popular TV show you never watch? Grey’s Anatomy. I feel totally out of it, but it seems too late to start watching now.

Celebrity whose looks you’d like to have?
Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts

Celeb you can’t stand?
Brad Pitt and that homewrecker Angelina Jolie, Kathy Griffin, and Tom Cruise

What did you do today?
Sent resumes out for my work, get other random work done, and check my email obsessively.

Who are you tagging?
Miranda, Heather, Staci, Leigh, and Ashley, and whoever else wants to play!! Just let me know when you do.

Have a great weekend, and I'm sure I'll have at least one fun tale from my 10 year reunion to share with you next week. Bye ya'll!!!

Chief Little Bigfoot

Meet the newest member of the Gibson family!!! Kellyn and Jason got their first dog together, a Bassett hound puppy, Chief Little Bigfoot, or Chief for short. Isn't he a cutie!!! He is so tiny right now, but Kellyn is doing her best to fatten him up. He is such a sweet dog, that Macy didn't even mind him that much. That's saying alot!

Check out those ears!
Isn't he cute!
Macy and Chief meeting for the first time.

Macy was probably just relieved that he wasn't staying with us like Jackson has!

More than you could possibly want to know...

What was I doing 10 years ago?
Way back in 1998 I was about to graduate from high school. I was 17 years old, and heading to Auburn University. In fact, I graduated 10 years ago tomorrow, and our reunion is this weekend. I can't believe that I'm that old...

5 Nonimportant things/habits/quirks
1. I try my best to never step on cracks on the ground. I can't be held responsible for breaking my mother's back.
2. I like some numbers more than others. It sounds so strange, so let me explain. I like all even numbers, and 5's are fine, but I don't like numbers that end in 1, 3, 7, or 9. That includes 11, 13, 17, 19, 21, 23, 27, 29, and for some reason, 31 is okay with me.
3. I am obsessed with things being symmetrical.
4. I am a self proclaimed blog stalker. I just link and link and if I find something interesting I always read for awhile before I comment though. I don't want people thinking I'm strange or anything like that.
5. Jeremy says I talk really fast. My family can understand me just fine though. I think Jeremy just can't listen fast enough....

5 Things I would do if I were a billionaire
1. After tithing 10%, I would pay off all our "debt." We don't have much, but I would have it gone first.
2. Put aside mucho amounts of money for Jackson (and future child's) education.
3. Travel to Africa for a safari, then to Australia.
4. Give lots of money away to our families.
5. Donate lots of money to charities of all kinds.

5 Foods I enjoy
1. Spaghetti
2. Fried Eggplant
3. Cheeseburgers
4. Homemade Onion Rings (have to be Vidalia battered in buttermilk)
5. Chicken Teriyaki

5 Places I have lived
1. My parent's house
2. My campus apartment
3. Mine and Jeremy's apartment
4. My house
5. That's it

And I'm tagging the first five people who want to do this. Be sure to let me know so I can enjoy all your bloggy goodness.

Mr. and Mrs. Adam Charles Knight

So the vows have been said, the rings exchanged, tons of food were eaten, and the bride and groom are now on their way to Mexico!! Amy and Adam are officially hitched!!! The entire weekend was wonderful. I went to Amy's lingerie shower (which was hilariously embarassing for the bride) on Thursday night. Friday we ran errands in the morning, and then headed to a wonderful Bridesmaid luncheon, and then Friday afternoon was the rehearsal and dinner. Everything was great!!! We are exhausted today, but it was totally worth it. Amy looked gorgeous, and her and Adam are going to be so happy together. Here are some pictures from the weekend. Enjoy!

The bridal party: Heather, Karen, Brandi, Ashley, Ginger, Me, Anna, Amy, Lori, Lisa, Sunny, and Kris.
