Story time!!!

Okay I have a funny story. At least I thought it was funny. A couple of nights ago, while Jackson was getting his last bottle, he was being unusually still. I took advantage of this rare opportunity (this kid never quits moving) and told Jeremy to grab a couple of books for me to read to Jackson. Jeremy is sitting right beside us eating ice cream and watching TV (this will be important later.)
I started with a story about Winnie the Pooh and the Horrible Heffalump, and when I finished with that, I moved onto a book that Jackson’s Mimi (the other Amy Wade) gave to him. It is a cute book that shows pictures of all sorts of animals and has these little tabs that you can pull down and it says the name of the animal. As I am reading this book, we are looking at all the animal pictures and as we see a cat for example, I say the word “cat” and then Meow just like a cat would. I have worked through a bunch of simple animals like, cow, dog, bird..stuff like that, when I came to a page with a monkey on it. Now, keep in mind that Jeremy is watching some kind of sports, and not paying me a whole heck of a lot of attention. When I came to the monkey page, I was not real keen on the idea of making a stupid monkey sound, so I said, “Jackson, ask Daddy what sound a monkey makes.” I kid you not, Jeremy’s instant answer, without even looking up from the TV, was “Oink, Oink.” I thought that I was going to die laughing. It took him a split second to register what he has said, and then he just started shaking his head. There wasn’t much he could say at that point.

Aunt Frances

We got word this morning that Aunt Frances passed away. As much as we are going to miss her, I am glad that her suffering is over, and that she went peacefully.

Family News

Not too much to say today, at least nothing fun to say. I am going to the eye doctor tomorrow afternoon and I am nervous about the exam. I HATE things touching my eyes. There is no way under the sun I could ever wear contacts. Purposely jab my finger into my eye, I don’t think so.

In Stewart family news, my Nanny (My Mom’s Mom) will be heading to Monroeville for some therapy probably by the end of this week. She fell and fractured her hip about a month ago, and went through surgery and then some rehabilitation and has been staying at my parent’s house for a couple of weeks. Please keep her in your prayers for her to have a speedy recovery. It really has been up and down for the last couple of weeks. Mom has done a great job of taking care of her, but Nanny needs a little more help right now than can be offered by one person. We just all want to see Nanny back on her feet again really soon.

My Moore family news is really sad. We got word a couple of days ago that my Aunt Frances (my Dad’s Aunt) is really going downhill fast. She is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease. This has been a terrible 10 year journey for her, and her doctor has said that she has quit eating and drinking, and it is only a matter of time before she is gone. I wish I could put into words what a wonderful person Aunt Frances was. She never married, or had children, but somehow she was the grown-up forever banished to eat at the “Kid’s Table” and she never complained about it. She loved spending time with the kids in our family. She was (and is) a wonderful Christian woman, and she is so loved. We have all been blessed to have her in our lives, and I know that soon she will be in a better place.

Take care and keep my family in your prayers.

10 whole years...

We went up to the Gadsden/Southside area this weekend for Jeremy’s 10 year Class Reunion from Southside High School. The reunion was held at the Gadsden Activity Center and it was really nice. Jeremy had a good time catching up with old friends and introducing me to people that he has known for years, many of whom he had not seen since graduation. It was a really nice reunion, and it has gotten me so excited about going to mine next year. The people who organized the event had printed up nametags for the class members that showed their senior class picture on the tag. It was super helpful, especially for people like me who can remember faces, but I have no idea what your name is. Is that bad? I am so guilty of seeing someone in Wal-Mart that I graduated with, or just went to high school with, and when they walk up to me and say, “Hey Amy.” I just have to respond with a generic greeting such as, “Hey (insert long pause for me to try to figure out their name, which never comes to me)…..how are you doing?” I always feel like an idiot. So, I am starting a mission to figure out the names of everyone I went graduated with. Granted, this is going to involve a lot of studying my yearbook, and even more snooping on MySpace and Facebook. So Prattville High School Class of 1998 (all 400 of you)…get ready. I am going to know you when I see you next summer.

Jeremy and I also got into a conversation about cheers from our respective high schools. He seems to think that some of our PHS cheers were kinda stupid. What do you think? Imagine me singing this loudly and seriously out of tune.

P----R-A----T-T-V-I-L-L-E H-S--Oh yes-Cause we are the best. PRATTVILLE.

All you Lions out there know what I’m talking about. That was just about the best cheer ever. Jeremy, don’t be envious. We are the defending state champs, and I really think a lot of that can be chalked up to our cheering skills. You know I'm right!

Last night I happened to catch on the 6:00 report of our local news station, WSFA, that if you were outside at exactly 8:04 p.m. you could catch a glimpse of the International Space Station (ISS) shooting through the sky. So what do you think I did? Oh yes. I made Jeremy go into the backyard with me at 8:00 to make sure that I didn’t miss the blessed event. So there we are, staring into the sky, and all I can see is one bright star and a bunch of clouds. So I looked the other direction and I spotted what appeared to be a dot that was moving through the sky. There I am saying, “Jeremy…I promise, that’s it. Look right there. I promise it’s moving.” I am so smug and proud of myself for being the first one to spot the ISS. Then I turned around toward the direction of the moon, and there it was. It looked just like a comet shooting through the sky right over the moon. It was so neat to see. It turned out that the dot that I was convinced was moving, was in fact, just a star. So much for my little dot in the sky. Sigh.

In other news, Jeremy and I will be traveling to Southside this weekend for his 10 year class reunion. I have joke with him that having a ten year reunion officially means that you are old. He quickly reminds me that my reunion is next year, so that means that I am almost old.

I even more news, I have had so many people tell me that they thought that we should enter Jackson’s tooth brushing video into America’s Funniest Home Videos. After the 5th person told me that, I decided that I would do it. Soooo, I have entered the video, and filled out the 18 pages worth of legal disclaimers that go with entering a video. (Seriously people…18 pages. Are they kidding me?) So be watching AFV and vote for us to win $100,000. I really do think its funny, and videos a lot dumber than his have won major moola on AFV. Get Ready. Jackson is about to make his television debut!

Brushing those toothies

This doesn't need much explanation. If you don't find yourself laughing at this, well...you just need to lighten up!

What did you say?

So we had a big weekend in the Wade household. I will start with Friday. Jackson had a check-up with his ENT. We had been told by our pediatrician, Dr. Diebel, that Jackson’s tube in his left ear had come out, but was still stuck in his ear. Jeremy and I had noticed some balance issues with Jackson, so we thought that we better be safe and get his ears checked out by the ENT. Dr Knox confirmed that the tube had come loose, but everything seemed okay.

We actually heard the receptionist say to a man in the waiting room, “So how long have you not been able to hear?” Are you kidding me??? Someone comes to the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor to have his hearing checked, and you ask him how long he hasn’t been able to hear. His honest to goodness response to that stupid question was “What did you say?” How funny is that? I nearly died laughing until Jeremy made me behave.

We also had Jackson’s 1 year professional pictures done. He looked so handsome, and for at least one of the poses, we had great smiles. Then he pitched a hissy fit. How can someone so stinking cute wail like that? One of the unanswered questions of my life….

On Saturday, our little man had his 1st B’day party. It was great. We had good food, lots of friends and family, and a great time. Jackson did not like putting his hands into his cake, but he LOVED his ice cream. He was exhausted after the party, and so were we.

Sunday…just a normal churchy day.

Today….Jackson had his 1 year check up with Dr Diebel. He now weighs in at 24.6 pounds and is 30¼ inches long. He breaks in at the 75% for both categories. The only thing that is bugging me is that he has to go see an eye doctor. Dr Diebel thinks that he has a slight case of Amblyopia, which is just a lazy eye. She noticed that when he looks straight ahead, and cuts his eyes to the left or the right, his left eye goes too far over. I had never noticed it, but she is the expert. She is sending us to Dr. Young, who just happens to be the doctor that did the surgery for my Dad’s cataracts. So, it does upset me, but there is nothing we can do about it right now, and hopefully, nothing will have to be done. More than likely, the only course of treatment would be eye drops, glasses, or a pirate patch. None of these sounds great, but I would much rather have one of those treatments done than have to resort to surgery. His appointment is on September 4th.
Keep little man in your prayers that this is nothing serious. Gotta run. Have a great day!

Playing with his B'day present from Nana and Grandpa

He loves driving us crazy! Just kidding!!!

Loving his B'day cake that Aunt Kellyn made.

Holding our breath...

So I haven't mentioned this yet because we are too afraid that we are going to jinx ourselves. We wanted to make sure that everything was going okay before we mentioned it, that way, whatever happened, we hadn't bragged about it to the whole wide web world. Here goes....Sound the alarms, it is official!!!

Jackson has figured out how to fall asleep on his own :)

*I bet you thought I was gonna write something about being pregnant didn't you :). We are so not ready for that yet. We want to enjoy just Jackson for awhile

Many of you may know that Jackson has been falling asleep while taking his last bottle for a long time now. When he would finish, we would brush his teeth, slowly get up...walk ever so quietly into his room, lay him down, and then tip-toe out of the room. 4 nights ago, on a whim, we just put Jackson down after his bottle, while he was wide awake, and waited for the screams. They never came...he just rolled around in his crib for a few minutes, and conked out. Granted, the dose of Benadryl for his runny nose may have helped that first night. The second night, no benadryl, but he went right to sleep again. Now, we have had 4 nights of him putting himself to sleep. We don't want to brag too much, but I think the kid is finally on to something here. Last night he woke up around 3:00 a.m., played for a few minutes, and went right back to sleep. So nice. I can't even describe it.

I will post pictures from Jackson's B'day week later. We have his 12 month professional pics this afternoon, and his party this weekend, so I have tons of shopping to do before tomorrow. I forgot my camera, and I also have a hilarious video of Jackson laughing about brushing his teeth that Jeremy filmed last night. Too funny. Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Jackson!!!! Can anyone else believe that we have a 1 year old? Where has time gone? I have been sitting here today thinking about everything that has happened in the last year, and I have decided that it has been the best year of my life. I couldn’t ask for a better gift from God than Jackson.
I sat watching my clock turn to 9:18 this morning, and I have to admit, I got a little teary eyed. It is weird that I feel so emotional about this, but I know I can’t be the only mother that gets a little sad about watching your baby grow up. How has it actually been a year since he was born? I keep playing back in my mind all the fun things he has done and learned over the past year, and I have come to the realization that watching him grow up will be the best/hardest thing that I will ever have to do. It is so utterly amazing watching him accomplish new things and learn new tricks, and how happy he is when he figures something out.
Some new Jackson tricks learned in the last few weeks:
1. Giving kisses (big, slobbery, open mouth kisses all over your check…it is the cutest thing ever)
2. Turning the TV on and off
3. Riding Macy (when she lets him)
4. Throwing his bottle off of his high chair. He finds this one particularly amusing.
He is the best thing that we have ever done, and I know, the best is truly yet to come!

It's my 1st Birthday!!!

It's my birthday and Mommy bought me this cool shirt to wear today. Don't you love it! I also got to take cupcakes to school to eat for snack today. They were so yummy!

Mommy and Daddy had to get super embarassing pictures outside before school. They are making a really big deal out of today. I have my party on Saturday. I can't wait to see everybody and eat more cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday to me...Happy Birthday to me..

Happy Birthday to MEEEEEE..Happy Birthday to me!

New Banner!!

Thank you ,thank you, thank you, Heather for the oh so cute banner. I love it!

Guess what happened to me yesterday. I am going to already claim the blame here. What in the world was I thinking taking a cup of RED Kool-aid into my living room. Am I not aware that I have a very curious child who loves to grab anything within reach. There I was, minding my own business, when I glanced to my right and (picture all this in slow motion).. I see Jackson reaching for my cup of Kool-Aid. He tilted it over just enough for it to pour all over our formerly white carpet. It is just in a puddle on the floor and Jackson decides to start slapping his hands into the small puddle that formed on the end table. He then helps me out by sliding the remaining Kool-Aid onto the floor.

I didn't know what to do first. I ran into the kitchen to grab a stash of dishtowels, my Woolite carpet cleaner and then back into the living room where Jackson is just having the time of his life in my Kool-Aid. In between trying to mop up the mess, this is what my conversation sounded like:

Me (to myself): "What were you thinking.....red koolaid....Jackson....You have GOT to be kidding me."

Me (to Jackson): "Jackson, stop...Don't grab the woolite."

Jackson (to me): "BAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH"

Me (to myself): "WHERE IS JEREMY????"

Jackson (to me): "BAAAAAHHHHHHHHH"

Me (to Jackson): "Jackson, no...you can't play with the woolite."

Jackson (to me): "BAAAAAHHHHHHHH"

Me (to myself): "WHAT WAS I THINKING?????"

Me (to Jeremy as he walked in the door): "Don't say a word. I don't know what I was thinking."

That is my story. Fun isn't it. If you look very closely, you still see the faint tinge of pink on my formerly white carpet....Sigh.....oh well.

P.S. Woolite carpet cleaner works very well, although it has a funny smell to me.

Just another day...

Okay. Let me rehash what is new with the Wade’s. This may get kinda long. Just bear with me.

1. We make yet another checkmark off the list of common childhood illnesses: Hand, foot, and mouth disease, not to be confused with Hoof and Mouth disease which apparently is a disease that cows get. Jackson got taken to the Dr. on Friday and she said that he had a “virus” and a sore throat. Just keep him comfortable with Tylenol and lots of stuff to drink. Ok. We can do that. So we hop in the car to make the 4.5 hour trek to Mississippi. Jackson traveled just fine. That’s because he was just storing up his misery to serve it to us cold as soon as everyone was ready to go to bed. He was up most of the night, which in turn means that most of us were up most of the night. It was to say the least, a rough night. Very long….
On Saturday, Jackson was miserable for most of the day, and when we went to Amy and Adam’s engagement party on Saturday night he was just not a happy camper. Let me stress, if you have ever had the pleasure of meeting Jackson, he is delightful. A true joy. Not so this weekend. That is one of he biggest reasons that we knew he was sick. I did a little research Saturday night and I found a lot of stuff on HF&M. Not so much fun. Jackson broke out in the bumps on Sunday, stayed home from school on Monday, and thank goodness…He is doing tons better today.

2. Jackson is cutting 3 teeth right now. He is a drool monkey, and my carpet has the spots to prove it.

3. I saw what my bridesmaid dress for Amy and Adams wedding is going to look like. Beautiful. Imagine this…watermelon color, strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, and rouching around the waist. You know you’re jealous. It’s okay. I would be too!

4. I finally got the pleasure of meeting Heather and Trey Skaggs. For those of you out there who blogstalk like I do, you totally know what it feels like to get to know someone through their blog, but you have never met them in person. Now I have finally met Heather. She is hilarious, and I like her even more now that I actually can say that I know her. She is another one of Amy’s bridesmaids. Heather, if you are reading this, I need help making a blog banner. Any suggestions?

I guess that’s all for my list. Have a great day!
